New Jersey Elevator, Escalator, Moving Walkway Mechanic Contractor License Bond
All ELEVATOR MECHANICS working in New Jersey needs a license, and with that license, proof that a $10,000. surety bond has been purchased. The bond runs concurrent with the license. The license runs for two (2) years. The current license & bond expire September 30, 2020, however the elevator board extended the date to November 30, 2020 due to Covid 19. Also, the last day to renew will be December 31, 2020.
The license is for the individual mechanic, not the elevator company. The bond is issued to the individual license holder.
8 hours of continuing education credits are required to renew your license. You must do this prior to the renewal date of October 1st. Go to these two sites for information and online courses.

The elevator board will mail you a letter at least 60 days prior to October 1st with a code. Go online to their site, login with the code which identifies you, complete the renewal process for your license and pay. (You need to purchase the bond prior to renewal)
Renew the bond for the term of October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022. We can provide the bond for a low cost of fifty dollars ($50.) for the two year period. Purchase online and pay by credit card. We will email you the bond within 24 business hours. You will then save the bond to your computer and then upload it to the State of NJ, or provide the bond number, name of bonding company, etc. that is required to renew your license online.
